Becoming a Member

"You guys are awesome...how do I join?"...Yeah, we hear this a lot...here's the skinny...

Who are we looking for?:  Eireannach Rothai is looking for members that are committed to becoming better riders...first and foremost...period.  We believe that the more you know about yoru motorcycle, and how it works, the safer you will be and thus derive the maximum enjoyment possible while on the road.

Yes, we enjoy riding and socializing together as well, but our primary focus is to become better and safer riders, enhance the motorcycling experience for our members and those that ride with us, and be positive force in our community.

What kind of bike do I need to ride?:  We are a club for riders of all types and styles of motorcycling...Sport Bikes, Sport Touring, Touring, Adventure..whatever...as long as you're committed to riding well, you're welcome to join us. 

Step 1:  Sponsorship
At this point you have probably seen us at an event, or been on one of our rides or to a meeting.  If you're interested in joining you're going to need a sponsor.  Any club member in good standing (patch holder) who is willing to help is an eligible sponsor.  Your sponsor will be responsible for mentoring you on your way to full membership.  If you need a sponsor...just ask a member and see what they say.

Step 2:  Prospect Status
Once you get a sponsor you will receive a "prospect" vest and patch which will help identify you to other club members while on the road.  This patch and vest will trigger all members to help you in any way possible along the path to full membership. 

The prospect period is simply a way to get to know all current members, to make sure your riding skills are up to par, and easily recognize you at club events.  The prospect period will vary based on each prospect's ability and commitment level

To becomme a full member each prospect must fulfill each the following criteria:

     1.  Regularly participate in club functions
           a.  Attend and be actively engaged in at least 2 club functions per month during your prospect
                period
           b.  Club activities include:  weekly club meetings, Skills sundays, Fundraising events, Charity
                rides, Club rides, impromptu rides, or any activity where 3 or more active club members are
                present

     2.  Riding Competency
          a.  Schedule an individual  ride with 5 seperate club members
          b.  Participate in a minimum of 1 Club sponsored ride 
          c.  Participate in a minimum of 1 Skills Sunday event
          d.  Present and teach some aspect of riding skills to a current club member or group of members
          e.  Riding Skills/ Ability:  You must demonstrate that you can operate your motorcycle at an
               "advanced" level...this will be determined/assessed  by the club officers throughout the
               prospect process

     3.  Join the AMA
          a.  It is important you support the organization that promotes motorcycling and provides
               legislative action on behalf of all motorcyclists

     4.  Follow club rules at all times
          a.  Adhere to all stated club rules as outlined on the Eireannach Rothai website

These are the basics steps required to join Eireannach Rothai.  Your sponsor can help fill you in on the the many details associated with each basic requirement.
